Low-loss Analog Phase Shifter Using Varactor Diodes
نویسندگان
چکیده
A no ̈el technique for the design of phase shifters is de ̈eloped. The method makes use of the phase ̈ariation with frequency shown by frequency filters; this results in phase shifters that are small. These phase shifters pro ̈ide near linear differential phase shift, and can be designed for both narrowband or wideband applications. Q 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Distributed Analog Phase Shifters with Low Insertion Loss
This paper describes the design and fabrication of distributed analog phase-shifter circuits. The phase shifters consist of coplanar-waveguide (CPW) lines that are periodically loaded with varactor diodes. The circuits are fabricated on GaAs using standard monolithic processing techniques. The phase velocity on these varactor diode-loaded CPW lines is a function of applied reverse bias, thus re...
متن کاملA Wideband 360° Analog Phase Shifter Design
This paper proposes a reflection-type wideband 360 ° analogue phase shifter. The phase shifter employs a branchline coupler circuit to achieve a wideband operation and a varactor-diode circuit to achieve a wide phase-shift range. Analytical formulas are derived to optimize the parameters in the coupler circuit for wideband operation and reduced attenuation ripple, and in the varactor circuit to...
متن کاملA 180° tunable analog phase shifter based on a single all-pass unit cell
This letter describes an analog phase shifter (PS) able to provide a continuously tunable phase shift up to 180° by using a single all-pass unit cell. The proposed topology is compact and easy to implement, and brings an interesting compromise between phase variation, insertion and return losses. Indeed, for a 7.5:1 tuning ratio of varactor capacitance, a phase shift variation of more than 186°...

Modern microwave and millimeter wave phased array antennas are attractive because of their ability to steer wave beams in space without physically moving the antenna element. A typical phased array antenna may have several thousand elements fed by a phase shifter for every antenna, which can steer the resulting array beam to different directions. Their low loss, low cost and lightweight phase s...
متن کاملThin-Film Phase Shifters for Low-Cost Phased Arrays
Drastic cost reduction of phased-arrays will require a shift in design strategy. The emphasis must be on removing expensive active components, not developing more highly integrated components or exotic packaging techniques. The phase shifter circuit—an essential active component—is the primary obstacle in decreasing the cost and number of active components in a phased-array. The problem is mult...
